Rising health care costs are one of the most critical social problems facing the United States, as well as most other nations. In this country it creates problems with global competition, lower wages, and an increasing percentage of uninsured. Over the past two years we have been working on a radical new approach to lowering these health care costs, by fundamentally changing the production process of care itself, particularly for the sickest 20% of the population (who drive the majority of health care spending). Working with a national team of innovators and experts, we have designed a radical new model called the Ambulatory Intensive Caring Unit (AICU) to deliver better quality care at 30-40% less cost. Here you can learn more about the background, design, implementation, and our current estimates of savings.
